: IV cats

Got out here after nightfall so couldn't get bluegill. Firt up hooked a big ass turtle. It swallowed the hook so I just cut it loose.

Only had a bout 2 hours to fish. Set up in a promising location and soon landed a nice cat and then another about 20 minutes later. Had a few baits, carp chunks, stolen. Probably could have gotten some more but it was getting late and the drive sucks.

An AO I'll be back to for sure to explore again.

Beautiful Cats, Jim!  I bet Steve could have used a few fish like that last night as I didn't get a text from him so assume he got the old goose egg.

That looks like a great spot.  Question, are you fishing a pond, aqueduct or part of the river?  Also, being 2 hours inland, do you get any tilapia?

Thanks boss and enjoy a catfish fry!

One of the major irrigation canals.

It was a place I picked out via google earth and intel from a local. Got there after dark so I couldn't explore the area too well. Driving out I saw what looked to be actually a better spot.

Get some carp and freeze beforehand for bait. Bring a small rod to try and catch live bluegill or small carp for flathead bait. Stripers tend to be closer to the river.

Some canals the current is ripping but this one was slower.

The heat out there soaks into your bones though. Hydrate and then some
