0600 wake up, out past the jetty around 0800.

Once I saw the water outside the jetty, I thought, I got cell service way over there, let's get some rockfish!

About 2/3 of the way there, I inspected my transom that has been suspect for a while now, and it was definitely bending. I said enough is enough and turned back to the coast.

Seemed like once the boat would hop up on plane the transom would almost parachute, so I kept note and stayed inside of a mile or so and looked for bass, while on Craigslist looking for a Livingston.

Managed this skunk buster.

Found a super rare Livingston 155 on CL for $5900 up around Portland. That will be in my budget in...6 months optimistically.

Got one more bite in 2 hours. Pretty amazing weather.

Super high tide at the ramp.

Here's the self bailing drain hole. Seems that the glue on the edges came undone and is letting water into the transom.

By all accounts this is not worth the repair to replace the transom. Been bouncing back and forth for a while about whether to get another kaboat while I save for a livingston, or just stay on land until then. I tried revising my PVC seat to be more comfortable (higher) and I was still fairly uncomfortable. I said, you know what? I had a good time for a while. Can't say I'm having a great time on this little pool toy any more. Time to save my money.

Plenty of interesting things to chase from shore around here for the next 9 months. Stripers, halibut, get back into surf sharking, always perch and croaker...maybe I'll get an annual state park pass to unlock another 5 miles of local beaches and get acquainted with that real estate. Then if things go well, I'll have another rig by next year's offshore season. I hope at least by next year's Sword season...I'm actually pretty happy accepting this idea now. Boatlessness pushes me to follow through!

Bummer about the bubble boat, but you sure got some great use out of it!  I'm sure someone is out there willing for a great deal and some elbow grease getting that rig off your hands.

Next stage of fishing is upon you.  Looking forward to see what you get off the beach now and looking forward to seeing the Livingston!

The mosquito ends with a turd...

Bummer. Wonder how it got bent like that. There's a Livingston a mile away from me that serves as a lawn ornament.

Combo of the water intrusion and also possibly the way I set up my DIY PVC seat, I connected the seat to the top of the transom to stabilize and it was pushing at it, probably putting unusual stress on the transom. Kinda dumb in hindsight. But 4 years of regular saltwater abuse for this boat is pretty solid in my eyes.
