: Dogs on the beach
: xjchad April 15, 2015, 03:01:37 p
Am I just a scrooge, or does anyone else hate it when people have their dogs on the beach?
Don't get me wrong, I like dogs, we have one of our own, but I never take it to the beach.
I guess I don't necessarily mind the people that have them on leashes and pick up after them, but it pisses me off when they just let them run everywhere and do whatever it wants.  I really hate it when they think that I want their dog running up to me or my kids when their 50 feet away. I don't trust any dog around my kids no matter how much you think it "loves children".  I chewed out some lady at the beach the other day because her dog wasn't on a leash and ran up right in my son's face while he was eating his lunch.   >:(
Oh well, rant over, hope I didn't offend anyone here.

Didn't offend me. I hate dogs on the beach. I can deal with them on a leash, but keep them away from me and my stuff. On a positive note, as long as peoples dogs pee on the beach, so will I.

Only thing I don't care for is if they steal my bait, or piss on my stuff...other wise I don't mind em at all, I used to take my boxer and maltese when I could

This would piss me off and would have spoken to her as well.

I like dogs and don't mind them off leash on the beach though their are Those potential incidents that may occur like the one mentioned above.

I've had one eat 2 large mackerel by my cooler. Also had one kick sand all over my reel that was laying on my back pack..

Ive seen one steal a whole package to hot dogs that a guy was fishing with at a local pond. The dog took off running with them, was funny as hell.

Ray, I'm sure you're part of the smaller group of dog owners that keeps their dogs under control.  I really don't mind that, it's the morons that let their dogs run all over and do whatever they want and don't pay attention to them.

Yeah I was really pissed and laid into her good.  I don't trust any dog with my kids, not even our own.  I've seen too many accidents in that area.  Plus I just don't mess around in the area of my families safety in any situation.

I don't mind when it's a good looking beach bunny and she wants to "apologize" for her dog's nosiness.

If there's a dog on the beach with no leash, it inevitably pees on my sh!t. Happens all the time! >:(

I just heard about it and need to read what was said.  It sounds like Steve went rogue and now is the IAH rather than the ISS nowadays.  LOL

I'll read it and get back to you!

Those guys are the exact reason I hate other peoples dogs so much  >:(
We have a dog and I love dogs, but when we take her out she is on a leash ALWAYS.
I don't trust any dog around my kids no matter how cute or friendly you say they are.  I don't even trust our dog or my inlaws dogs.  Too many stories of kids and people hurt by "loving, friendly" dogs.  I punched some lady's boxer in the head at the beach one day because it ran up in my 3 year old's face.  She was pissed and threatened to call the cops and said please do! PISSES ME OFF when people think they can do whatever they want because they are SPECIAL and the rules don't apply to them.

LOL, now I'm all angry...

Whatever. I was just having a little fun. Nobody needed to get their panties in a bunch. Mine weren't. I wasn't even wearing any.

I remember that cute girl talking to me down at the beach saying "What idiot would free-dive in front of you in the same area where you are casting?" only to have her dog (not on the leash) just reach into my bait bag and swallow my last mackerel whole.  I had a bad dog streak there for a little while....

I just came across this thread. In such case, I always fit my retriever with a dog leash (http://www.petstreetmall.com/Dog-Collars-and-Dog-Leashes/445.html), so he wouldn't stray far from me whenever we're outdoors, especially on the beach. It saves us a lot of trouble, and avoid any further hassle while we're having fun.
