Been Having some problems with photobucket, so I tried a new photo sharing site, so here's my report.

This is the time of year I start catching the Elusive Corvinas. I usually just stick to top water spooks or I'll use the Luckycraft FM 110. Using my Sedona c5000 with 12# P-line XStrong. Conditions were great on Saturday morning as there wasn't much wind.

About 5 casts in I get a hit on the top water, she came jumping out of the water twice and was a nice little fight.

After I caught this fish on Saturday morning I left to go try the beach for some Halibut, Conditions weren't freindly today. High surf and a lot of salad.

Here's the Corvina and only fish from Saturday. Im glad to see the Vina's back around again.

3/27 Sunday morning I go out and just know I'm sticking to the bay today.  I try a different spot and today I threw just the Luckycraft FM 110 Pearl white. Conditions were great and the moon was shining out over the water as I fished.

It took about 30 minutes before I get a slam on the other end and knew it was the right kind. Another Corvina.

Not much of a fight but was fun to catch.

Then I continue fishing looking for more of the toothy kind and I feel a big slam pretty close in. About 5 minutes prior I saw a big splash not to far out, and I knew it wasnt a mullet. There was baitfish all over the place. This hit was different and knew I had a Halibut on, after a few nice drag peels I reel in my prize. Great to be back catching the right kind.

Halibut pics.

Good luck to everyone out there and thanks for reading. Until next tide.

If you are vina fishing, and catch a halibut, does it count as "the right kind"?

Nice catch, and by catch.

Latimeria

You can't catch them from your computer chair.
