LONGCAST JOE

By popular demand...here's some other horned shark pics I snapped...

The spot just hasn't stopped producing. I'm imagining a school of bats numbering in the hundreds has been frequenting this reef lately. The last few seshes time hooked up ,by far, has outweighed time not hooked up, with the sandhandless solo seshes just being ridiculous, like the later part of last nights sesh.On the last cast of the night,of course I hook into the one that would give me the longest & hard fought battle of the night...I just kept thinking-When I get back to my truck, now  over an hour past the No Parking cut off time, I hope the officer writing the ticket is a fisherman, shows some sympathy, and gives me a break due to the circumstance  :D...I was Ok, no ticket  8)
Ended up with half dozen or so in the mid 40" range, some horned sharks that would run me rig into snags each time somehow, even though I was using a pulley rig. Just had to give them some slack, walk down to a different angle, then I could pull them out.
Ended up the night with this thick 51", with more than half the battle spent in the skinny. Trying to solo sand hand it in surging surf with weeds wrapped every few feet in the last 50 feet of my line ,that would catch up in my rod tip if not removed before the line was taken in was challenging to say the least.

You can see the glow stick in the background, which I've been clipping on to my line with the sputnik, which definitely dosn't deter any action, lets me see the path of my cast and also makes locating a fish in the skinny easy.

face looks alot like a dogface puffer's

My new set up  ;D
