Day started off on the wrong foot. Left my rod at home. When I left work, I nearly forgot my bait.

Made the trip home and joined my family at our local spot for dinner and to toast the memory of a family friend.

Got to the beach and saw fairly clean water and much smaller surf than expected. Tom joined me and we got set up.

Well, in three casts I lost two rigs, a problem compounded by leaving my headlight in the car.

As I re rigged repeatedly, Tom was getting some pretty good bites but nothing stuck.

My rod was silent do I kept moving around until I settled down in a decent spot.

I finally got a few bites, and one finally stuck.

Bites kept coming but it was getting late. We decided to call it a night.

As I rinsed my knife and cutting board I get bit. Throw my stuff to the ground and its on.

Lots of fun surface thrashing results in this guy.

68 inches. Not big, but fun.

At least pros our weighed the cons Steve!  I wish I knew of a place up here that had big bass like that!
Sounds like the 7 fought really well too  :)
Also, those are great pics!  I need to get a real camera to take with me...

Was it less weedy than Saturday? Different locale right?

Those pics came from Tom's new phone.  Pretty darn nice.

I was enjoying the conditions weed wise after the last few trips. Funny how quickly they move in and out of a zone.

That's a cute one! Much better than the 2 GIANT hold-fasts I caught. I also lost 2 rigs :(

So, that bass was 68"?  I would say it was a goodnight fishing considering the obstacles you faced.

Latimeria

Good fishing. Could have been great if I could have got one of my bigger hits hooked up long enough to Beach.
Glad the high confidence rig worked out for you.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
