Was glad to be back on the sand for Father's Day to see what Poseidon had to offer. I heard that the surf has been pretty rough the last week before. I was just hoping it calmed down in time for me to show up and fish. Headed out in the dark and armed with the LC, I started chucking. Really rough out there, and getting chopped salad on every cast. It didn't help that I had a new LC and didn't take off the middle hook. Shore was sure pounding and with a strong south surge to boot.

The moon was incredible out there though, just incredible. Really didn't even need a headlamp, except for when your stepping in the water of course. Clear skies and the water glistening like millions of diamonds were in the sea. Just had to sit back and being the only one on my section of the beach, I took it all in.

Took me a good hour and a half to finally break the skunk. Calico slammed the LC and it was foul hook, and it I'll take it. Also saw a huge snail on the beach which was pretty rad.

Called it a morning and the heat was kicking in even at 6AM. Beat the crowds off the beach.

Was hoping I would arrive to better conditions this morning the first day of Summer. This time it seemed a little worse than yesterday. Gorgeous full moon again lighting up the beach. Salad was so bad it was almost unfishable. Tried to find an area where I could get my lure to swim the way I wanted it to. This time this morning though I get bit about ten minutes in. Halibut! So happy to get my target. After that I didn't get a another bite and the salad was getting worse. I always enjoy beating the surfers to the beach though, hard casting in your spot sometimes and they don't even notice you. They were having a ball out there though, that's for sure.

Hope the surf calms down by tomorrow, this stretch of high surf is just ongoing and ongoing.

Thanks for reading and be safe out there. Tight lines!

Love the halibut, especially those closeup shots of the mouth & lure.
