Arrived 445 and had 3 small spanish mack by 5. That was it until I split at 8. Big surf has the water churned up and dirty even at the end of the pier. Croaker guys just outside the surfline were getting a few. Random lady said she was at the pier til 11 last night and no mack then either.

Used a sabiki tipped with squid.

Oh dang, I was there 1:30 to 6:30.  Give me a holler next time!  Fishing was slow for us too.

ID help on this guy?  He flopped off the hook and proceeded to bash himself to oblivion before I could get a nice photo.  Looks like a Pacific sardine, but I don't see the black spots.

I think this one is a topsmelt.  Hard to see the first dorsal fin though to tell it apart from jacksmelt.

And I know this one is a salema because I caught one last December when I fished with you guys.  Caught & released.

Filling up the cooler with bait is going to take quite a few trips at this rate. :-/

Pacific Sardine indeed.  You could also get round herring there at times.
Nice job considering conditions.

I'll message you later about fishing this week.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Spur of the moment decision when I got up. Usually the way sunday rolls.

If you want to play sand hand I'll be hitting someplace tonight Ben.

Got lots of old bait to return to the ecosystem and a smaller rig to chase bass with.

Forgot my fighting belt so that must mean I'll end up needing it. ;)

Tonight is pretty much the only night I can't, but thanks for the invite!!  Ruoxi's dad has been visiting from China for the past several months, and he's headed home tomorrow, so we're doing something for dinner.  After tonight my schedule will be flexible.
