Decided I needed to put my 2017 fishing license to use and headed down to a close NVC spot on my lunch break.  I only had about 15 minutes to fish since I had to get gas first.  4th cast gets a nibble and the 5th cast got a hookup!


Quick picture and release and I'm throwing the LC hoping for another before I have to go.  A few casts later it gets hammered!  After a great fight I landed my PB surf perch!  13 inches and thick!  Sorry for the blurry pic :(


Hope the rest of 2017 goes as well as my first outing!

*UPDATE*
Hit the same spot on my lunch again today hoping for another before the rain came.  Bested yesterdays PB by at least 1/2"  :)
(This one took the tail hook deep and was bleeding bad.  Looks like I'll get to try some perch bait after the storm!)

You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Would cut perch be as good of a shark bait as mackerel? 
What about for rays?
If so, I might start keeping some.  Probably much more fresh than the macs from the bait shop  ???

Def caught daytime Leos on the cut perch. Never actually tried one for the bigger night critters.

I'd bet you were at least a couple minutes late getting back from lunch. I had to stop with the mid-workday sessions long ago because when the bite was on my workday would end up turning into a half day...one more cast....one more cast....ok, just one more cast...ok, one more...for real now, this is going to be the last one...unless I hook up...then, do all over again...and again  :o ::) :-\ ;D

Let me think, you work in SSB but you said NVC..so being short on time you would of hit the first easy access spot over the county line...hmmm, really?

Right on Chad.  I remember when I used to get to fish at lunch every day from work.  Man those were good times, too bad my work squashed that "Livin' the Dream".  lol
