Seen several dead ones thanks to my pest control guy. Mole cricket I believe?? Very cool looking! Very chupacabra-ish.

We call them potato bugs or potato crickets. Used to find a bunch when I was a kid and play with them. Haven't seen one it over 12 years

Potato bug. Found one inside when I lived in the Bay Area. Never seeing one before I quickly whacked it with my slipper. I may have only slightly injured it IIRC.    :P

Just looked it up. The last time I saw a mole cricket was when I was a little in Tennessee. Apparently potato bugs can hiss and deliver a painful bite.

Weird. To me, potato bug=roly poly=sow bug.

We called those things Jerusalem crickets or earth babies.

They are up here in Valley center as well, Potato bug, and they are nasty looking. The kids usually toss them to the chickens just to watch the carnage  ;D
