Last minute solo sesh. Was looking to catch some critters for a fish fry this weekend. Brought a medium setup and the long rod. Long rod was serving as the bonus rod as I know the other setup was gonna be the work horse.

Shrimp on the critter rod and mack on the long rod. Action was fast and often on the critters. I had a double dropper loop going and most of the night resulted in doubles. Caught double digits in round rays, 6 shovels, 5 yfc, a sargo, a batray, 2 calicos  (1 legal), and a butterfly on the long rod. Could've landed more, but I stopped caring about the small bites and was waiting for a major rod bender. Stayed until midnight and headed home.

The surf is full of critters and the sand is loaded with sand crabs. Saw countless corbina slide up onto the sand. Water is pretty freaking warm. It was t-shirt weather last night. Was actually sweating wearing that and my waders. May leave them home next time. Will continue soaking the long rod, but for now I don't expect to catch anything on it of any real size.

Cool,

I'm going on a soup pot critter expedition to the south Kitchen tonight. Got an 8 foot 10 lb light setup and 16 foot ultralight expandable crappie rod.

Love seeing these multi-species critter reports!  Butterfly and sargo are both making me drool.
