I did not have the time/energy to run out to the yellowfin biomass, so made a quick inshore trip trolling for something a little closer to shore.

About 5-6 miles out and I saw some flying fish flying around.  I started trolling and before you know it got a double hook up of skippies!

I got about 4 or 5 knockdowns that missed the hook, but had one real fish slam my squid daisy chain.  Unfortunately fell off by the time I got the rod out of the holder.

I got another skippy while trolling that I bled and packed in ice for some poke.  Skippy makes great poke, but unfortunately you have to cut out a lot of red meat to get the good stuff.

I love the blue lines

That was about it.  3 skippies in 3 hours of trolling.  Not great, but not bad for being so close to shore.
At any case, it's the first true tuna on The Curmudgeon.  Hopefully I can get a nice ahi on it before they disappear.  Friggand Bayfest knows how to screw up all of the launch ramps.

I also had this weird navy ship circling me for 40 minutes.  I'm not exactly sure why and it had an outrigger on it.  Just a weird vessel.

Thanks for reading.  I also have some shark and/or lobster bait now!

Congrats!  Those guys fight like a fish at least twice their size.

That's the sea hunter. Still doing trails in SD waters until I think 2019 or 20. It's intended to be unmanned and scan zones for submarines for several months at a time. I think the idea is to have several dozen along the coasts doing search patterns.

Thanks for that info, Chris!  I was wondering why it kept circling over and over as it moved north.
