Power was scheduled to be off all day Friday, which for an Internet Marketing guy means no computer, which, if you're smart, means God is telling you to go fishing ;D

Who are we to argue with God?

So we went fishing ;D

Surf on the big pond was looking favorable, but we were concerned about salad and kelp monsters lurking in the water after all the big waves earlier this week, so we opted for the bay. And judging from all the salad back there, I think we made the right call. If it was that bad back there, I don't want to think about what it would have been like on the big pond. It was fishable, but far from ideal...

We fished from 1:30 PM to 8:00 PM for Nada. Zero. Zip. Schnay. The Stripe.

But we were reminded that God doesn't always tell us to go fishing to catch fish. Sometimes it's more important that you get away, get outside, hang with your bros, and have a few adult beverages. Ok, maybe a lot of adult beverages because, hey, it's a slow day 8)

And just let go...

Just let go of all the ish in your life. Reset. Relax. Have another adult beverage and enjoy the unexpected time off.

We did get a chance to witness something we've never seen before. We had about a half dozen squid left over we dumped a couple of feet from shore before we started packing up. A small plate sized round ray shows up and we got the chance to see how they actually eat our bait. Little guy lined up a whole squid and took the whole thing. No way we would have ever thought a ray that small could. He didn't get very far before he spit out the squid, but minus the head. So that's how they do it! But he wasn't done. Came right back, lined it up, swallowed the rest and took off. Don't know if it was the same one or not, but another ray of the same size appears and does the same thing with another bait.

Well, at least we know how those little thieves steal our bait now ;D

If you're heading out this weekend, bring plenty of adult beverages and be prepared to enjoy just letting go 8)
Anybody have an emergency beer?

I know what you mean.
Just spent last week in Pennsylvania at my daughters wedding. Definitely time to decompress now.
I'm gonna try the ocean at low tide Saturday afternoon. Seems the waves have died down a little from looking at the surf cams. Gonna top it off with a trip to Morro Bay during the week. I am taking my kayak and fishing gear. I've heard there are some big bats inside the bay.  :D

Wind and current going the same way made it unfishable at the usual spot. Ended up the surf cam was at a beach shielded slightly by the harbor jetty since the waves were going toward the south east.
Ended up hitting Dana Point jetty. The bugs were crawling there. Lots of half eaten bait pulled in and a few of the lobster bites. You know it when it's just a very even jiggle from the tail flipping.
Quite a few people were setting nets for the night as I left.
Still a nice time out. Looking forward to Morro Bay.  ;D

Excellent unwinding report. It's funny how those little rays suck down a squid like that!

Nice session boss!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
