Teaser Report 1/6/15

 Conditions seemed too good to pass up a surf session. I even decided to overlook the minus tide.

I took the opportunity to check out an area I have been thinking of trying out.

It looked rocky as all get out, but I thought I spotted a clear area, so I rigged up and sent out a bait. No action so I sent out another, and another. I finally got one snagged in the rocks and couldn't free it except by brute force. I lost my rig, my rub leader and 50yds of line. Ugh.

Rig up again, and lose another 40yds of line before long. Argh.

Then I put on my last steel leader. With a circle hook. 8/0. Not my usual thing, but I made a couple up to try out.

I finally get a screamer, grab my rod, and watch line peel off. And then stop. Fish came off. Felt like a nice one.

At least I still had my rig.

Cast out, wait a while and I'm bit again. This time I have the fish on for a great fight and it comes so close I can hear it splashing but I can't put eyes on it. I feel my line rubbing on the rocks and then, pop, I'm off.

Could have been an epic night, but it was just a teaser.

Damn squatch, might have to start callin you by your name of southeastern origin... Skunk Ape, lmfao! At least you got out got bit and only lost a few rigs that probably had been floating around in the back of your truck as previously stated your over due for a monster!

First one I can't be sure, but I "feel" like it was a soupie. Number two was definitely a soupfin, no doubt about it.
