Saw this on a catfish forum. people say flouro is more abrasion resistant but side by side it doesn't hold up.

Cool test!  Glad I'm too poor to buy floro  ;D

I'm actually not very impressed with his methods.  The apparatus is good, but his choice of comparisons leave a lot of room for improvement.  Not all mono's are created equal in regards to abrasion resistance.  Ande leader material is perhaps one of the stiffest and hardest mono's i've seen.  It doesn't surprise me in the least that it held up so well.  The true test would be to test multiple brands with many trials and create a chart comparing each.

I have done a couple outings using 25lb flouro vs 25lb mono fishing the exact same stretch of rocky shoreline for calico bass and have found mono lacking.  I usually get 2-3 trips out of the flouro before I feel it needs to be changed,  BBG mono typically lasted one session and typically had much more scuffs and nicks on it.

I am sure there are some Mono's out there that are tougher than flouro and vice versa.

On a side note, I will not buy blue label leader spools, as they are way to expensive and are not worth the added expense IMO.  Up to 20lb, I have been very happy with Seaguar Red Label, and for 25lb, Seaguar makes a STS (salmon, trout, steelhead) flouro that comes in 100yd spools for the around the same price or less than 25yd BL.

If your worried about abraison, bump it up regardless if your using flouro or standard monofiliment.

Imho stupid pointless test

He did one olso braid vs mono and braid breaks in the blink of an eye.

To me his test is pretty good for shark tail slaps.

Once again, a skewed test. Pointless unless you compare same diameter. 4lb mono wouldn't last long compared to 20lb mono either.
