I had the rare opportunity to fish all day on Saturday and I took full advantage of this chance. Pinoyfisher and I have been on a bad streak as of late, so I needed to get my bendo fix in and check out some different areas. I started out on the surf since we tend to spend most of our time in the bay. Hit Del Mar from 11am-12:30pm. The surf was small but the Eel grass was really heavy. (As you can see from all the salad next to my rod holder.)

Relocated to Torrey Pines from 1:00pm to 2pm for less salad but tide was very low.

Wasn't feeling it so I split after an hour.

After getting some lunch I head back to the old stomping grounds for the incoming tide. The bay is so easy to fish compared to the surf. (No ripping current or waves to deal with.) Since I normally don't fish Fiesta Island I decide to give last year's BF HQ a try. I setup and within 10 minutes get a little ripper on the Penn Squall

(about 20 inches wide)

While waiting for the next line ripper I spot this rainbow. Has to be a good sign right?

As it's getting dark my squall goes off again with a much more sustained run. I set the drag and it's on, this bat ran for a good 30 secounds but compared to the lack of catching I've had this felt like a monster. Since I was fishing solo I was concerned about this fish crossing my second line but this bat decided to play nice and go straight out. After a short of tug-o-war this bat come in. As I'm pulling this bat in a little girl comes up behind me and ask if I want to buy girl scout cookies. WTF, these girls are everywhere this time of year. ;) I tell her I'm good and she proceeds to bring her whole family over to see the bat and so I do a quick tape and it's 42 inches across.

Called it shortly after 6pm. It was great to finally get the skunk off today and get to fish pretty much the whole day!  :)

Thanks for reading!
