Super week.. DUI costs more than that..

The type of probation he is on is a joke. He will not be required to check in with a probation officer. If he lives an honest lifestyle he wont even know its there.

And they will allow him to make small payments on his fine.

They didn't confiscate his boat and gear?

Or some sort of weapons violation? Unlawful carry ? Discharge?

He killed a protected animal, not a person, but I agree his punishment is a bit light. IMO, he should've gotten a stiffer fine and forced to do a bunch of community service. The article didn't mention if being a commercial fisherman was his only source of income, so I won't complain about him not having a lifetime ban on his commercial or personal fishing license.
