Anyone have any recent or relevant intel on how or where to start looking for sturgeon from shore in the Bay Area? I'll be up there for about 5 days and probably have a day to poke around.

Nothing to offer intel wise, but I sure hope you get one.

It kind of seems like leopard shark fishing. I've narrowed down a few areas in the back back to try, hopefully I can get a little intel when up there.

I wish I had something to help out with, but I have no experience with that species. One thing I see them do is wrap a dozen big nightcrawlers on a 12/0 hook with bait thread in rivers and bait thread wrap ghost shrimp on hooks for the bay. Whatever the case, good luck!  I'm sure you'll find someone up there to spill a little intel.  I'd love to see some pics of prehistoric beasts!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Went to Hogan's for some black rod wrapping thread and hooks to make sturgeon leaders and walked out with a torium 30, 3 way swivels, assortment of hooks, magic thread and braid for a spinner....

I've got 4 setups from 20-40lb now to try to make this happen and if not, well, I'll have the best spread on any SoCal beach to catch anything from perch to sharks.  Lol.
