Tuesday I  had a 15 hour day at work.  Wednesday I'm back at PT for my knees (Old age crap).  Thursday looked like the perfect evening for us to be the Tuesday AND Thursday Night Crew!

Did a conditions check at high tide and things looked stellar! No salad from what I could see and almost Caribbean-like conditions (minus the warmth).  Met up at the old watering hole to put down a few tacos and beers with Steve.

Got down to the beach at dark and chatted up with a State Park Officer.  Great conversation and got all set up for the magic hour bite.

New plan for me was to ditch the old hooks and try something new, so I pinned on a 14/0 circle hook.  I've had terrible luck with them, but been having too many heart breaks not to try something different in my arsenal.  We'll see....

Stellar sunset, but the temps were dropping quickly!  Cold AF!

Between High Tide and low tide, the salad moved in.  Not terrible and it was very fishable, but annoying none the less.  Also, when the tide started coming in, it came in hard so there was a lot of current.  i know I was having trouble holding with an 8oz sputnik at times.

Lots of familiar rod shakes, but nothing that made the rod bounce... until it did.  Only thing, it was bouncing like I had something, but wasn't putting any real bend in the rod.  Well, I'll be!  I giant ass mackerel head on a size 14/0 hook and this big and really cool patterned Turd Roller slid up the beach.

After that, it was just more the same lobster with some bass bites in between.  Closest thing to getting my blood pumping was after a cast as I was wading back to shore to set the rod holder, the line started bouncing and stripping off like I had something on and I definitely did!  Unfortunately, I had the circle hook and turned to wait until the the hook did it's job and it was gone.  It popped the legs of my sinker, but crushed the bait.

After that, more cantaloupe sized grass balls on the swivel and 3 hours after setting the sand spikes, called it quits.  No big runs or anything, but you can't catch them sitting on your couch.
Thanks for reading

You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Hung up in the reef a couple times. Got my rig back. Small victory.

Cold temps are keeping me on the couch. So far I've been making the right choice...

I can't figure the problems with circle hooks, my success with them has been pretty good.  My success at finding sharks on the other hand, ain't been so good   ;D
