Water has cleared up considerably and the surf is mellowing out too in the North County areas. Looks like good days ahead to soak some baits 8)

Thanks for the updates!  Time to cruise up to the PSSK!

I swear we have had the most terrible surf conditions lately (Hard wind putting big arcs in the mono, elevated surf, sea grass).  Hmmm, it's probably just because I'm getting old and over the years taught me what was enjoyable surf fishing vs not so enjoyable. Yep, the more I think about it, I'm just getting soft.  LOL

Well, hopefully some people are getting out.  I've only been fishing once in the past month due to home construction and other things, but plan on being back sooner than later.

Conditions were much better than what was forecasted. Only issue was occasional grass and kelp monsters.  TNGC area.

Looks like weather, high winds and big surf is going to keep things slow for a bit down here.  Not sure of the salad situation.  Anyone in SD even try fishing in the last few days to give a salad/conditions report?

I fished Sunday night. Crappy conditions. 3-6' with it mostly on the big side. Current wasn't bad, but the salad was really bad. Line would be sideways within a few seconds of hitting the water. Luckily it was mostly broken up surf grass and boa kelp and not giant kelp paddies that can claim your rigs. Didn't see any grunion either. Fished for an hour and had enough.

I'm staying in San Onofre and this grass patch won't leave. The little cove is sheltered enough and deep enough it's holding fish (perch and croaker) but I can hardly soak a bait for them long enough to bite and shark rigs won't hold bottom because the Sputnik's catch all the grass before the bottom.

Oceanside and Carlsbad have big waves and dirty water, didnt even give it a second look.

Jeez, that sounds terrible.  Things are supposed to calm down here as surf goes, so hopefully things clean up quickly.  This is prime time for 7-gills and mother nature is not making it easy for us this year!

There was a lot of promise for this shark season, but the weather and wind has been awful more than good this year.

Surf was still up this morning when I left but the water looked clear. Let's hope for the best

Cardiff - First week of April

RIPPING CURRENT at SLACK TIDE!  7 oz sputniks couldn't even hold the bottom.

GRASS GALORE! Water looked fairly clean, but there was a hidden mess of grass and kelp in the water that would have been fine if the ripping current didn't pile it up on our line at breakneck speeds!

We fished for about 4 hours and never got a single shot at a 10 minute soak time..  not a single bite...  nothing except a thong bikini sunning herself next to us that sort of salvaged basically a wasted trip.

Phuck! That sounds awful! Mother Nature is doing her best to keep us off the beach. I'm gonna hit the bay this Thursday for bats and grinners or the pier for bait stock piling.

Report from the beach...  "It's so windy that it looks like flocks of sheep out there".  Confused, I said sheep?  Squatch replied "all the whitecaps this morning"..

It's my anniversary "weekend" apparently and I have a big work audit to prep for this week, so I'm not sure when I'll get out fishing again.

I was a TP last night, the downhill current was the worse I've ever seen.

The wife is preparing for the same audit. I wish the conditions were better, it'd be nice to get away from the stress of "audit preparation".
