Could any of you more experienced builders / fishermen recommend a rainshadow rod blank for going after surf sharks.

I have had good luck with RS, and would like to add a sharking rod.

The SUR1508 and SUR1509 are standard heavers for the Rainshadow line.  If you want something beefier, then the SUR1569, but any of them will do.  I have the 1508 and the 1569 for my two heavers and love them both.  I'm probably slightly more partial of my 1508 since it more closely matches the size of game in the area, but I was glad to be using the 1569 when I got my big BSB and 102" Sevengill on it.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Thanks. Had a quick search and couldn't find the 1508 for sale anywhere. I'll ask my rainshadow contact!
