Steve sent me a late text that he found a beach with no weeds and seemed fish-able.  He was going down to give it a try and I had to join him.

All I had left was big bonito as bait.  I made some casts right into the hole and confidence was high.  I had a nice hit, but farmed it.  Steve had a nice hit and missed his.  Lots of baiting and waiting going on.

I finally get a better hit and it felt very leopard like, but I could recoup the line fast enough and the hook never buried the way it should have.  Oh well, we called it a night, but it felt good to get out and give it a shot.

Next time, next time.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Might try again tonight. 4 am comes pretty early to be out as late as last night. It just seemed so good.

Been a tough couple of weeks on the sharks it seems. Hopefully they pick up soon!

Surf was kinda stacked and weedy at Del Mar last night. Cool you found a clear spot.

Jimmy and I tried up north a ways and found a weed free spot that was also free of fish...... >:(
It's all Tom and Don's fault! They "hooked" me on mud marlins and sharks!

24 hours later. Still no bites in a quick sunset session, but the big weeds had rolled in.
