Ran down to the puddles to see if I could get my first trout of the winter season.  Got to my spot and there were a few people fishing there.  I had to actually grab an area that I haven't fished before, but not far away.

Things were looking grim after I pulled up and set the rods out.

Sunny and cold, but you could see the clouds rolling in from the coast.  Heard a few guys say nothing has been caught in the two stocked lakes.  I look up to see my strike indicator do the trout drop!  Fish on and the right kind!

Solid 3# fish!

Now I have everyone squeezing in on me... well the kids anyway.  I get back in the truck and just chill and wait for the next bite.

Place is starting to get crowded, but I still had my little spot to myself for the most part.  Then the strike indicator just pinned and the rod doubled over.  I know what this is.... Mr Whiskers...

Now we have kids squeezing in like the old Poway day and then other kids throwing rocks in the water.  I had enough and cruised home with my catch.  Well, I released the cat, but was anxious to cut the trout open and see what kind of meat was in there.

Just as beautiful as I hoped!

Finally!  Now time to upgrade!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

sasquatch

Don't even need to use the special marinade on that.

Beautiful meat on that thing. Way to finally get respite from the whiskers (if just for a few moments)!
