My plans to hoop net got cancelled on Saturday and moved to Monday night, so it freed up my Sunday of all things.

When I think of "Trout Fishing Weather", today was it!  Got to the puddles before first light.  It wasn't quite raining yet, but the radar showed it was quickly on its way.

I meddled with my rigs and tried some other types of hooks and different scents for the bait.  I quickly went 1 for 2 on some nice trout.

Then the guy on the other side of the lake saw me and moved shop right in front of me.  This caused a problem since I caught a few more and he was literally on top of me pulling a 2008-2010 Sasquatch. (Sorry Steve, I couldn't help myself)  ;D

I kept hearing a weird bird call and realized it was a Kingfisher right next to me.  I watched it grab 3 small shad on multiple dives and wasn't scared of me a bit.  I can't believe how close I was, especially to get Phone pics this clear!

On a dive.

I wasn't more than 8 feet away, so apparently didn't get him nervous when there was so much bait underneath him.  At this pace we were toe to toe... then the heavens opened up.

It was at least pouring at this point, so I was able to get some elbow room since people apparently forgot to bring rain gear.

I caught my limit a lot quicker than I anticipated, so decided to go home for a bit and grab some lunch.  Maybe I'll be back for a "Closing Session?"

When I filleted the trout, there were no rocks this time, but I found multiple lures and hooks.  These guys have gotten away before!

Well, I did go back but decided to try some new spots on a hunch.  My goal is to get my 2025 Lightning Trout but it was not to happen on this day.  Tried a few new spots and never got a nibble.

Next time....

Forgot to mention that the stringer was 12.5 pounds.  That makes the average 2.5 pounds per piece which is one heck of an average!

You are making a dent in the Trout population down there, that's a nice stringer full of smoking goodness  8)

Good to see a limit. Just skunked yesterday at Laguna Niguel, I'm gonna try a city pond on my way home from work today.
