I totally bypassed all of my go to spots and went somewhere else.  Unfortunately, I had to park 100+ feet away from the rods, so I know this was going to be tough.  It was a steady heavy mist to straight up rain.

I just get in the car after casting out and call up my buddy when I see the strike indicator already dancing!  100 ' sprints aren't my thing these days but by thge time I got to the rod, I saw the trout jumping all over and throw the hook.  UGH... Hopefully that wasn't my only opportunity on a first cast curse.

I reset and now wait about 20 minutes before seeing a rod double over!  This was my 2# rod!

I could tell it was big and heavy, but I couldn't really put any pressure on him to bring him to the surface.  After a fairly long fight I see it has whiskers, but is also BLUE!   Big old Blue Cat!

That was quite the fight and really fun.  It's been a while since I've seen a whisker trout.

Reset and went back at it.  100 ' sprints definitely got tiring, but I hooked the right kind.  This one fought like a steelhead!  Screaming runs and no give up in this fish.  I'm pretty thankful to land him!   Nowhere near as big as I thought but what a hell of a fight!

Next up was another whisker trout, but a small one compared to the one's we've been catching recently.

Then another trout, albeit being about 1/2 pound smaller than the last one.

Hooked another cat that rolled and snapped my freyed line before I could get the net under it.  I pulled out my back up rod and gave it a quick cast.  I told my wife I'd be home by 4:00, but it was already 4:20, so I was staying until the end.  About 15 minutes before closing and I get another good bite.  This one was a much better grade of whisker trout!

Well, that was that.  I packed the rods and now know I have another spot to go if needed.

The puddles have been kind to me the last few years, but I still want my 2025 Lightning Trout!

You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Sprinting in them boots would be awkward I bet :o

How do you tie 2# line, I have to wear cheaters just to see 10# and it's still a struggle? ;D  ;D

Hope you get your 2025 Lightning Trophy soon 8)

Another solid outing, that mad trout sounds like a lot of fun.

Gonna try for trout right now, hoping they stocked the place late last week and it boosts my odds a bit.

I can't even feel 2# line in my fingers, so it's a struggle for sure!
