Bat Ray Chavez Was at it Again (5/21)

Conditions just seemed to perfect not to attempt using my big rod for the first time since surgery.  I had a spot I wanted to try, but Steve needed to get a new reel and Ray was super kind enough to sell him his back up reel.  Very cool of him and Steve was stoked.

There were bouts of rain and lots of wind, but the surf was very fishable.

I was having some trouble casting due to I couldn't rotate too well and put some power in the cast.  That coupled with a Four Loco and a pain killer had me all out of sorts.
I had a few bass bites, but couldn't get them to stick.  Steve's rod sat quiet while Bat Ray Chavez was at it again with the quarry of the night.  That was first time I've seen him smile for the camera! lol

I wound up being the local liaison for a few passers by who did not believe there were sharks in the surf here.  After a few pictures, I'm not sure they will ever go back in the water!  lol

Well, you guessed it Bat Ray was at it again with a bigger model!  Ray definitely had the hot stick out there!

I didn't get there until late, so time slipped by and before we knew it, it was closing in on midnight, so we packed up and called it the night.

Great fishing with you guys.  I'm stoked I am back up to the big rod, but it will take a few trips before I can dial it all back in.
Congrats Ray on saving the evening.

Until next tide...

Glad you're back at it Tom.
That first pic is awesome!

Yeah, maybe things would have been different if we went where you wanted. Glad you came anyway. Ray was definitely hot stick, but I had at least one shot I missed by a few steps.

Whoops, I forgot about that. Sorry Steve.

I was hoping we got em before this weekend hits. The beach is just going to be crowded and the beacon's are going to be strong for the next few months.

No idea. It's up to me to find my limit.
I was just going to hand off the rod if I hooked a bat ray that was too big for my back and straight rod anything big. It was a good test for me.
