Legal Calico on the LC AM Session 6/17/15

I cannot believe how good these morning conditions have been this week. It's just perfect out there right now! Still a little salad though out there.

Okay, pretty interesting out there. Completely got slammed by this nice Calico in about 2 feet of water. Drag was set just a little looser than I wanted. 

Made a quick change while keeping the line tight and then I had the right sound. Brought her in and got a few pics of the Grump.

Pics in a few, I have to tell you that after casting back out, I feel a big wham!! Maybe a couple bumps I felt, but when I felt it, I set the hook hard and I was on. This was a big one! The drag was peeling off big time on 12# The awesome power I felt was amazing. Could this be the big Halibut I'm looking for?  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz That feeling knowing your line is good and you did a fresh re-tie. Started walking her back in and saw a Leopard Shark had to be at least 40 inches.  I could see my LC snagged on the tail. Back and forth.  no no no . (lol)   If I pull it I'll lose it and the fish is almost out of the water.  When I had to stop and think about the LC comes flying back at my face luckily missing it. And the Leopard goes back in. I tried to tail grab it, but I couldn't and she was free.  So close!  It was a lot of fun on 12#

Fun stuff with the leopard and yes... the thought of an LC hook in your face though was worth not pulling back too hard on that leo!  lol
