Offshore advice for upcoming trip

I recently got in with a new company and they are doing their annual trip out of seaforth landing aboard the apollo. Everything is fully paid for and we will be leaving at 8:30pm on the 18th for an overnighter.

Last year they slayed the tuna.

As of now all I know is that we will be fishin mexican waters.

I've got a 9ft teramar (30 lb stick) to pair with my saltist bg 40h or 35h.

Offshore is my biggest opportunity, I'm not that educated on it unfortunately. All I've done in the past was fish next to an oil rig on a private boat slaying Cuda on irons.

I've been wanting to go offshore for a long time now.

Any advice is appreciated.

Forgot to mention I've got a 7 ft 20lb seeker paired with an additional saltist bg. Not sure if I should take that too.

Ask the crew what's working. Fish as heavy as you can get away with, lots of BIG tuna out there!!! You don't want to be under-gunned! Pick out the freshest, liveliest bait possible and get it in the water ASAP!! Have your rods rigged and ready to go as you leave the harbor since the fish are close. Sucks to have to tie on hooks while everyone is casting out a bait to foaming fish.

Hooks: 1/0 to 4/0 hooks

Outfits to bring if you have it: 30lb - 40lb - 50lb

Lots of sunscreen

Artificials: surface irons, megabait style jigs 3-6oz

Listen to the crew. Follow your line. Communicate when you intend to cross over or under. Follow your line. Make sure you feel you bait and not just feed your line into the drift. Follow your line. Have fun, these are people you work with, so practical jokes are a must. I like the classic beer can trick. Hook a beer can full of water, sink it deep, "hook-n-hand" to your co-worker who's having a bit of a slower day.
