Had an hour before work to fish this morning and was trying for some more Halibut. Conditions were terrible. Strong waves and surge brought a  lot of salad with it too. Not to much wind to speak of.

I tied on the Lucky Craft 115 MR Sexy Smelt Ayame and started casting. Didn't get hit for about 35 minutes. After a couple more, one last casts, my lure hits a big thump!

Drag was peeling pretty good but this fight felt different, was it a WSB? Probably not. I really thought it was gonna be a Halibut. Kept the line tight the whole way in, and after battling some waves too, I beach my prize!

Wow, what a huge Sand Bass! Got a few nice quick pictures of this beast and sent her back to Poseidon! That was one nice fight on the LC! Called it a day and headed off the sand.

Here is some pictures.

Big shoulders and very grumpy!

Not easy trying this shot. She was pretty ticked off. How old do you guys think this fish could be? Just the thought makes me wonder. This fish could have been swimming around these waters for quite some time!

Here is the tape shot and its not the best, but it can give you an idea how close to 2 feet she was.

couple of close ups

Exciting way to start a Monday that's for sure.

Thanks for reading and good luck out there!
