Did our Tuesday fishing after work as usual, only instead ran down with the small rods looking for clean beaches and maybe get a corbina or spotfin to boot!

We saw a few nice corbina, but could not find a crab bed anywhere.  Luckily I brought squid strips in case of emergency and they did the trick.  We took a long walk south trying to escape the grass and salad.  We finally hit one tiny spot that was relatively low on salad and got on them!  Corbina rolling at our ankles as well as big shovelnose... but we were mostly managing the Leopard Sharks!  Should have caught 20 of them, but only got 13 in our hands.  Unimpressive pictures to come later when I get the pics off my phone.

In-between the hot "Keychain" bite, we also managed a few perch and Steve even got a yellowfin croaker.

We headed North and found a clean stretch if beach.  We saw a few fish, but couldn't get anything to bite.  We decided to head out for a beer and burger before starting the night shift.

The Beer and burger was awesome and we headed back down for round 2 looking for some big grinners.

Set up and weed free.  First cast and I think I hook a bass, but turns out to be a big round ray.  The next 2 hours were small gangs of round rays and tiny leopards eating the bait off the hooks like piranha!  We called it the night and got home a little earlier than usual.

I really can't wait for the summer crowd to go home.  We had some tripper (seriously tripping his balls off) run all the way down the beach to us and jump in the water right in front of us.  He was yelling and making noises you would hear a 3 year old girl make when her pet fish dies.... splashing and standing right in front of us.  Not sure what that was about, but he was apparently deaf also or just so high in his head, he couldn't hear us. Then amateur hour started by a group of teenage kids trying to look the part of Jeff Spicoli. They would ride the waves for 5 feet before flopping in the water time and time again.  The current took them all the way down to us and they decided to stay and surf right over our lines... oye vey... I can't wait for fall....
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Between all the salad and the tourist/nut jobs I'm staying in other waters too. None of that in the river or IV.

I miss the grinners and rays but striped bass, monster carp, and catfish can be a load of fun also. The drive sucks though.

Dinner was the highlight of the evening. Extra hour or so of sleep is nice.

Mike and I hit the surf too last night, surprise to find fishable conditions. No grinners, but no salad either.  ;)
