Cough... cough... time to go fishing. Was in the mood for some critter fishing, so I headed for the jetty. Brought 2 trout rods with 6lb and a combo of shrimp and squid.

1st stop was the S Mission jetty. Surf was pumping, so I focused on the channel side.

Shrimp went untouched for about 30mins. Rigged the other and tossed a line in the surf side.

Nada there. Packed up and rock hopped further down the jetty to deeper water. After having 3 waves splash over and sprinkle me on the channel side, I had enough. Time to hit Hospitality Pt.

LOTS of flotsam in the water along with some serious boat hazards!

That log was about 5' long would burn for hours in a bonfire! I had to pick trash off of my line on every cast, but the fish we're hungry on this side. A handful of palm sized basses and several wrasse kept me entertained.

And then this tanker showed up. It slammed the tiny chunk of shrimp so hard it almost jerked the rod out of my hand.

My first half moon. This guy was a beast! Pulling drag and zipping in and out the kelp. I was positive I'd lose it. Once I got him in my hand, I see how close I was to losing him. The hook just fell out of his mouth. Decided to keep him for lunch since I've never had one. It wasn't bad, but that my be the last one I eat. And that was all she wrote. Tide was dropping fast and it was almost time to get the kids.

I thought this was interesting.
