After researching William Taylor and his techniques ever since he and his son landed that 30lb yellowtail along with 4 grinners at TP, I've been focused on upping my game and trying new things. That's why when we hit Back Bay yesterday, I was armed with frozen sardines and magic thread to go along with the squish. I've used sardines, and anchovies, before with some success, but stopped using them because they fell off when casting or didn't last very long. But after watching how the South Africans tied them on, wanted to give them another try. They work.

Long story short, the sardines got more action, and bigger fish, than the squid. They stayed on no problem when casting and getting pecked at by bait stealers. Our only problem was running out because I only got one bag >:(

I know it looks kinda funny, and goes against the idea of making a "natural" presentation, but they stayed on and got munched ;D

I also noticed in the videos that the South Africans use a variation of the 3 Way with bait clips for casting further, foam on their hooks for floating bait that's been wrapped around it and tied on, and something they call a Dingle Dangle. Can't wait to try some of these variations 8)

Sounds fun Chip!
No pics of the fish landed on the Sardines?

Very cool... and one more thing... watch out when you Dangle your Dingle.  You cam probably get away with it in S. Africa, but not the states.  LOL
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

No keepers. But we did pull an 18" butt and 12" bass before we ran out of sardines...

Ranch 99 has a 5lb frozen case of 'dines. Maybe launch them frozen and let nature thaw them out.
