Met up with an old buddy that I grew up with.  Actually his parents and my parents were best friends when they were teenagers, so it goes back quite a while.

We had a few drinks and dinner at the bar and hit the beach at sunset.  Fishing was tough as he was not used to surf gear and lost a few rigs on his learning curve.  He at least got on the board with a lobster and Steve followed up with an octopus.

Lot's of lobster and bait thieves out all night.  Steve split and Tom and I continued fishing.  Tom got a nice legal bass (17") finally as we were burning through baits left and right.  No "Right Kind" of hits out there, but I did notice that my rod stopped getting bait ganked and thought the worse may be happening.  I tried to reel in as quick as possible, but it was too late.  Giant ass eel!!!!

Just as I was figuring that I had to cut my steel leader since he swallowed the entire hook, I heard someone singing....

When a moon hits your eye like a big mackerel pie
That's a moray
When the slime seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's a moray

Good lord....  even though I've heard it all before, I've never heard anyone start singing let alone ad libbing.  pretty damn funny!

Time was up.  No shark hits.  Great surf.  Great tides.  Great friends.  No dice on the sharks.  Oh well, next time.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Glad I didn't see yet another huge bite just as Steve left report.

Good  to meet your friend. Good guy for sure.

Hey at least you caught the bait thief. Going to go out Thursday to break the 2018 curse. Wish me luck. ;)
