Going to Houston next week and am going into Galveston for a day, maybe more. Does anyone know where are good places to fish there? I've been there once before and saw the nice jettys and the pier on the one side of the peninsula. Talked to one fellow who said you can get King Mackerel off the jetty or the pier. I also remember seeing a post of someone catching big rays. Any ideas or info will be appreciated.

Latimeria

I've only been there once like 20 years ago, but remember catching a bunch of random stuff off the pier.  Hopefully someone can chime in here with a location, but what gear are you bringing?  Long rod and heavy stuff or light action gear?  I can't imagine that most of the areas with structure like jetties or even the bay side doesn't have a lot of sharks/rays swimming around.

Hopefully someone can help you out here, but just after a quick look on google maps, it looks like the entire area is fishy!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
