Squatch and I met up at the bar for a few drinks before heading down to do a little "Light Line" fishing before the sun went down and fish for grinners.

Light line fishing was really good!  I got the trifecta (YFC, Perch and corbina) and Squatch caught 3x as many!  He even got a little shovel as a kicker.  It's been a long time since I light line fished the surf.  I would have kept some for live bait, but we left the heavy gear in the truck.

The sun was setting and we ran up to grab the heavy gear for session #2.

The water was super clean.  We had weeds roll through at one point, but they quickly went by and we resumed fishing.
Squatch was the only one to get bites.  He caught 3 or 4 nicer grade Shovelnose, but that's all we could muster.  We finally called it quits and made our way back to the trucks.

No grinners, but a good night of beers, beans and banjos!

We've struck out the last couple times on the long rods...............hence I'm making the transition back to the light rod.  I've had a couple of stellar sessions   8)
