So I started off using macs like everyone else and that worked for a lot of bats and some sharks.

Then I started keeping the occasional bat to use as bait and that worked better for sevengills.

Now I see this.  Looks like a pretty large bit out of it, so I'm thinking do I keep one of these as bait for the bigger ones???   ;D

Just kidding by the way!  ;)

Not a bad idea really. Bet you don't lose a bait once you pin it on.

Looking at the pic again, It looks like this sevengill spit out it's guts like they sometimes do.
I know there was one caught in this area recently, so maybe it just didn't get revived properly?

Whoa!  I can't really tell what happened to that thing.  It looks like a bite, but could be an improper release.  In any case, weird seeing that washed up and cool pic Chad!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Just saw this Chad, hard to say what happened.  Weird

I'd assume a shark that size died and then had a chunk bitten out by it's kin. Despite our best efforts it'd be naive of us to think there isn't some attrition. I know I've had a few I thought swam off strong only to see them beach again and do the release process all over. I bet any beach goers were very surprised to see this :D!
