I usually fish with Roger and Dave the day after Thanksgiving, but this is not your normal year.  I had today off because I was planning months ago to take my boat out, but that's not happening so I met up with them down at the bay.  I put a shiny new blade on.

It started off strong as the first fish I hook and get dockside was a 2 foot WSB!  I can't remember that last one I caught in the bay!  I was going to try and bounce him as my shoulder would hold my weight if I tried to lay down and grab him, but before I could get him in the "Bounce" position, the hook shook and off he went.

The sky was awesome this morning.

I kept getting short bit, or the blade was knocking the fish off the hook.  I lost like 5 in a row before finally getting weeded.  No fight, just felt like a big wad of eel grass, until I saw it was a big wad of eel grass with an 18" halibut attached to it!  lol.  I gave it a little shake to get some of the grass off it and I succeeded in removing the grass and the fish.

Roger and Dave show up and we continue to get short bit.  Roger in all his glory.

Dave untangled back lashes the entire time I was there.

I split at 10:00 to go to the Royal Rooster for a tasty breakfast burrito, but was severely bummed to find out they are closed on Monday's.  I stopped at a deli close by and grabbed a breakfast sandwich.  Two super nice Mexican ladies cooking and they said they don't make breakfast burritos...  Are you as stumped as I was?  Anyway, I chowed down and made a few casts at the rocks for a spottie before heading back to meet up with Dave and Roger.

They played backgammon and I fished the rocks here and there, but the current was ripping and i couldn't even get the lure to hit bottom, so watched them play and called it quits at noon.

It felt good getting out of the house and I caught some cool stuff today.  Fun morning indeed.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
