I had some business to take care of in Steve's neck of the woods and decided I felt good enough to try some surf fishing afterwards.  Steve popped down and we quickly realized we had one crowded beach on our hands.  Squatch and I grabbed the little rods.  I was trying for halibut and Steve was looking to catch some shark bait.

Steve caught a micro-micro perch that was even too small for bait, so we kept working the beach.  My back brace was helping, but it was more walking than I've done in 2 months.  We bump into Mayor McBean and shoot the sh!t for a while.  The Mayor wanted to see what a micro-micro perch looked like, so Steve was obliged to catch another and show him.

My hard bait was just catching the mass of eel grass that was all over.  Impossible to get a clean cast in.

I was ready to just quit and not shark fish but Ray called and said he was on his way!  I was easily talked into staying and see if my luck can turn around and I had a beautiful bonito for bait.

Long story short, I used one bonito (3 baits) and 2 macks (4 baits).  I got bit on every bonito chunk including the big ass head and never got touched on the mackerel.  I think my macks have been in the freezer for longer than their shelf life.  Oh well.

Ray got picked up also, but did not connect.  We hit a ton of eel grass and decided to call it quits at 10.

It was very nice meeting you Ray.  We will definitely be fishing again until my surgery and then I'll have to live vicariously through this board to keep me sane until I heal.  Good luck for the bats tonight!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone.  Watch out for drunken leprechauns on the road tonight!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Definitely a tough trip, but I'm ready for the next trip. I'm glad to meet up with you guys, to bad squatch was more than content just watching us fight mounds of eel grass, but I guess he made the right choice...hopefully next time the grinners will be out in force

Glad you got out Tom! Sorry it wasn't too productive, you'll get a soupie the next outing, I can feel it.
