It's been a while since I busted out the Cast Iron and Max requested some Dutch Oven Ribs for dinner, so I grabbed the 14 incher and got busy. I cut up 2 packs of Baby Backs, seasoned them up and strategically put them in  :)

This Dutch Oven doesn't fit on my stand so I had to put a tray on it to make it work. The stand is made for 12'' and smaller ;) Coals on top and bottom, good to go 8)

Cut up some potatoes and made Fries too :D

Mongo was supervising ;D

A little over an hour and it was Chow Time 8) I managed to get 1, the rest were polished off by the rest of the Clan :o

Looks like rain is on the way, be safe out there !

That looks awesome...

Rain came through and my buddy got a big halibut in the middle of it yesterday morning.

I'm assuming you were out this morning hoping to duplicate his success?

Caught up on sleep. I will say my last two (short) halibut were in the rain, so I felt good about his odds. It's gonna be snotty tomorrow morning, it would probably be smart to plan something if just from shore.

I finally bought a camp cast iron oven, but still need to try it out.  This looks like a great way to break it in!

I am assuming it is pre seasoned, if not you will need to season it ;) And NEVER EVER NEVER use soap to clean it !  Looking forward to seeing your posts  8)

The rule of thumb is subtract 3 from the diameter for the bottom and add 3 for the top to achieve 350 degrees. So on a  a 12'' D/O you will need 9 under and 15 on top. Wind and and temp plays into it as well, it just takes a bit to get used to but it is a good way to get your body's iron levels up ;)

I use this stand, it is great :)
