Went out on the Mosquito with Alicia on Saturday for my birthday.

I was planning to stay fairly local because of a forecasted short swell, but it was perfect out. Short swell sure but only 2' or less.

My one concern with Alicia on the boat is making sure I find her some dolphins. On the way to the bass grounds some mackerel started popping everywhere. Casted at them and caught two before I even knew if I had a bag on board for them, so released them. Found a baggy, caught another and that one popped off at the boat. Looked over and there were dolphins and seals busting on bait a few hundred yards away, so felt obligated to abandon my bait-making to go view them. It dissipated as we pulled up, but the dolphins started moving in the direction of the bass grounds so I let them escort us. A dozen turned into 30 or more as multiple pods intersected. Good show from a few trying to flip around and a little baby dolphin trying to lead the whole pack. Brownie points! Good show.

And on to the birthday boy's wishes. Steady bite on the bass.

And when she got a little woozy from slow trolling into the swell we did another lap around to say hey to the locals.

Also found a decent calico in the zone where they aren't normally, so hopefully summer invites some more of them in shallow.

Tracked back toward home while looking for those puddling mackerel. Found them again but they weren't as thick and would sink out quick. Headed back to the ramp by 11 and had Islands for lunch, napped, and then homemade ribeyes for dinner. Nice day. Almost went out Sunday morning but decided to sleep in past 0500 for the first time in weeks instead.

Happy Birthday Boss!  Boy, I'm glad you found Alicia a few pods of Dolphin, because that look on her face seeing that turd roller says a lot!  lol
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
