Made the solo run to a new a.o, and was quickly greeted by dfg. Always nice seeing them out on the sand. Forgot to get his name, but he was an older bald fellow.
I was armed with fresh macks and soaking my usual rigs, kelp had its moments. And it didn't take long for soup #1 to hit the sand, a green 71" female
I recast maybe twice, with long soaks, and started getting tired by 11:30. But felt like holding the surf rod and waiting for a bite was in order, for some reason I had a feeling I'd get a bite quicker? Go figure,  I felt the tap tap, boom. Missed it on the swing, rebait a midsection, cast, and just wait holding the rod and keeping the line right while I browse thru my phone. Maybe 10 mins go by, tap tap, slack, boom! A real spunky 65"f emale hits the sand. Unfortunately she swallowed the hook, so I cut her loose as close as possible in quick manner.

I really wanted to recast with a fresh bait, but by now it close to midnight, got a decent drive, I'm tired, so I get my remaining 2 macks, finally dice and distribute them to the surf and call it a night.

Got some tonight as well. They're everywhere! My 66 swallowed the hook too. Ugh.

Both you guys did better than I did. Guess my hot streak cooled.

This has been an unprecedented week for surf sharks... wow!

Congrats Ray!  I have some catching up to do on the surf shark list now, but the boat work beckons me as some serious inshore El Nino fishing is happening!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

I too remember the days of you yearning for surf sharks. You have now surpassed me greatly in quantity, quality, and variety! I'm going out tonight, we'll see if our Northernly sevens are as willing to play as the Southernly soupies have been this week! Nice going Ray!
