My Penn Prevail busted on a cast first time out with it. Wasn't overloaded, just a bad blank and tackle direct admitted there have been problems.

They upgraded me to the Battalion. Great rod and no problems with it all. My only complaint was the reel seat was too far away from the butt for my liking, but a hacksaw fixed that.

Think they retail at around $120

According to A penn rep, the prevail and battalion are the same blanks. The battalion just had fugi guides and reel seats.

Ha! The tackle direct guys flat out lied then. Said they were better / stronger and different blanks

Figures, sales guys ...
