Traffic is death on Thursday and I need to test my new bait rod out so I'll hit the sand right about low tide and soak the long rod while getting the feel of the bait rig tossing different things.

Not getting any hopes up but ya' never know.

Good luck Jim!  You have a better shot than all of us combined who are sitting at home wishin we were fishin!

Put in the time. I know I won't be catching anything this weekend.

Well probably not, but if I get a chance I'm taking it.

Current was howling south, laughed at the  8 Oz sputnik and dragged the whole rig down the beach in 5 minutes.

The bait rod seems  adequate  but that current messed up the testing.

Some baits stolen but no takers.

Latimeria

Wow... I the current can drag an 8 oz sputnik, you know you have some serious current!  Yikes!

Good try Jim.  Bummer the surf didn't cooperate for you but it sounds like you could at least fish somewhat.  Was there any kelp in the water or was it clean?

Not much kelp. Eelgrass was the bigger problem. That and some other seaweed. Considering the current it wasn't that bad.

There was very little stranded kelp on the beach. I was just south of the lagoon mouth at TP. I think the current was due to the lagoon draining since it was nearly the peak of low tide.

As I was heading out some other angler was long rodding at the mouth.
