Well, it looked like we had 10 people show to fish the surf on this first annual Grinner Gathering.  I wasn't sure how things were going to turn out due to the slow fishing it has been lately.  Boz called me in the morning to give me a conditions report and it seemed as though it would be fishable.
I got a call as I was rolling down by Where'sMyBeer that the salad was moving in and I started to worry things were going to change for the worse.  I got down to see a packed beach!  It almost looked like a Bat Fight only in the surf!
It wasn't long before the sun started setting and the action picked up!

Fish jerk was the hot stick as he came all the way down from LA to fish it!

First Leo was 54.5?  I can't remember some of the numbers if anyone wants to chime in.

Jaws and WMB enjoying the festivities.

Binh shows up without Mike hoping to get his 7 and topple Mike's soupie.  Binh said Mike was home and didn't want to come out because it was too cold or something.  :o ;D

Now the sharks started to show.... on the sand and in the surf!

Man, Fish Jerk was on again!

This time with his personal best leopard shark!  (58?")

Then the Leopard Flood Gates opened up!

Ray got his.  He was yelling "Don't touch my rod!" as it was screaming in the dark.

Ray's buddy was hot on the Keychain Leopards.  I think he got 3 of them.

The DFG showed up to check on us and Ray's buddy was back at the Keychains!

Dave wanted in.

He got a beauty of his own.

Fish Porn

Saving the best for last...

Binh gets picked up and it starts running down the beach.  With all the leopards getting caught, we assumed that's what it would be, until I see my horse crossed the finish line and beat Mike while he was home sitting on his couch!  Congrats Binh! (1morecast)

5 footer, but super cool to see since we haven't seen one in the suds for a while.

Smile for the camera!

The release.

Great night!  I sat with spideyjg until 11:30 or so trying for something to get me in the positives.  I shook off a thornback in the surf for -1 and was stuck there for the rest of the night.  Jim had a lot of lobster and bottom critters stealing his baits, but it was great seeing all the action in the surf tonight and having Binh catch his first 7-gill!

A huge success for the first annual grinner gathering.  Thanks everyone and congrats!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Twas freaking awesome. Had a blast, I forgot how much long rodding is. Definitely had a lot going on up and down the beach. Glad I can be there for both Mike and binhs shibing moment lol. But credit goes to binh tonight, congrats

Have to say even though I had a goose egg for the night it was still a blast!! Thanks again Tom for getting this together!

Weeds were terrible for a while but all in all a great night!

Congrats on the seven Binh!
It's all Tom and Don's fault! They "hooked" me on mud marlins and sharks!

Cool to see so many nice fish hit the beach. Would have loved to see it in person.

Congrats Binh on a nice fish.

Great seeing some of the regulars and meeting new peeps too. Thanks for putting this together TOM.

We should put this in the annual rotation opposite the Bat Fight. Make it a Tri-County thang as well ...  ;D ;D

Fish Jerk

I had a great time and the company was just fantastic, would definitely be interested in an annual event. Congrats B on getting your 7. Hopefully I can join you soon with one of my own.
