Headed down to the surf tonight and fished with Mr. X.  We were bit every cast, but I was using the big guns for something more substantial than bass, but Mr. X picked up 3 bass tonight with a 4lb+ as the big one of the evening.
The tide was all outgoing and I had the right kind slam my rod!  As I was fighting him, I felt him surface and tail slap my line, freeing his ass!  Ugh... that was depressing as I had him on for a bit and to have the hook pull just sucked.  I then proceeded to lose two back to back rigs to ad insult to injury...  that was some cash down the drain.
Just like Quint says... You lose one, you rig one...

I then get a second hit and only had him for a few seconds before a tail slap freed him also...ugh... Friday the 13th...

Next cast I get a third hit, but same thing.  This was two bites on the same mackerel head, so even though the bait was a little messed up, I cast it out again as it was a proven good bait to get back to back hits.  I was just about to reel in and re-bait when the bigger hit came and I had him this time!

Thanks to Mr. X for tailing the big boy for me!

93" Male Seven who just couldn't stop biting his tail!  It's funny how a hormone raged male 7-gill is so much more of a fighter than the females!

I need to get a better camera!  The pics came out super fuzzy, but were good enough to clean them in photoshop.
This pic was a little better.

Smile!

I then rallied with back to back bass on big chunks of Bullet Tuna!

Mr. X and I packed up our gear just before midnight as it was starting to slow down.  Final tally for us were 5 bass to 4lbs, a lobster and a 7-gill.  Every bait was bit and all at low tide which made it pretty cool.

Oh well, time for bed and thanks for reading.

You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Nice Tom! I told our friend Tom he's in a special group. With probably only hundreds of people catching these beasts from shore. But we sure are making it look easy  ::)!

So face print ID point of this one is the 4 spot arch at 3'oclock from the eye. small, tiny, small, small.

Spots on 7s are micro, small, tiny, medium, and large.

Figure describe in the rouges gallery by a spot pattern and location but comparison of pics would ID for sure.
