Well, Squatch and I did a last minute trip to the surf again hoping to capitolize on the ones that got away on Thursday.  I show up and Steve is already on!  ...well he was the bass king last night with 3 nice calcos for the evening.

I had a couple of goos hits last night and got to experiment with some baits.  I brought Mackerel, Spanish, Bonito and Big Eye Scad.

-The Spanish and Big Eye Scad would only get crabs or scavengers stripping the meat off the bone, but no real hits to speak of.

-The mackerel got a good amount of bites, but mostly bass bites and such.  The heads were bit first.

-Bonito... was killing it!  It was from a 6 pound bone, so way too big for bait, but I managed anyway.  The bone was bit almost immediately every time and my only fish of the evening took a huge hand sized steak!

From the initial bite and run, I thought it was a Soupfin.  Then it high tailed it right at me and I wasn't sure what to think.  Soon I realized (in still shock) that I caught my first leopard of 2016!  I might have caught one earlier in the year, but I can't remember any.  lol

At least it was a nice one!

Well, we stayed out pretty late hoping for a last minute hurrah, but that was that.  Squatch was the high-liner of the trip and I got JP.

Next trip... Next trip...

Thanks for reading.  :)

Yep...  It weighs at least a pound or more.  Ridiculous looking actually.
