Phenomenal Bay Fishing (11/15)

I don't know what to say except that I got tired of catching this morning from the shoreline of all places.  3 hours of catching is OK in my book!

I got down to the bay just before 6:00 am and started throwing the spook.  In less than 10 casts, I got my first vina of the day to shore! Not big, but I was fine with that.

I then had a few dozen more casts with nothing.  I noticed a lot of bait around and decided to switch to the swimmy.  The three hot colors were sexy smelt when it was overcast and bay chovie when the sun started to break through.  Ended up with 28 bass, with my big one in the 14-15" range.

I started texting Squatch a pic after every fish for a little while there to make him feel like he was part of the action!  I think he thought I was rubbing it in.  ;D

I even got a halibut in the mix!

I also hooked a BIG vina on the swimmy.  Well, I would say 2 foot range, but gave him a sportsman's release before I could get my mits on him.  Threw mud and water all in my face as he sped off.

Then I got a big hit and then it screamed out!  I thought I had a huge halibut or WSB at first, but quickly saw that it was much bigger... and it was a huge bat!
I decided to try and tame him as it was making a lot of turns and made it a fun and interesting fight.  I was really laying into him as hard as my Lew's and XML would allow.  About 30 minutes later I noticed he flipped on his back in the skinny water and took full advantage of this.  I straight rodded the fish while he was incapacited on his back and got the ear grab before he could flip over.  I gathered quite the crowd and thankfully one person came down to snap a picture.
It would have been a beast on my BIG stick let alone bass gear!

What a 3-hour session!  I would almost call it "epic" as it was a steady dose of catching the entire time.  I also lost a few dozen fish which even made the numbers crazier if I got them.

Total: 28 Bass, 2 Corvina, 1 Halibut & 1 BIG bat ray!

I'll take that type of fishing any day of the week!

Thanks for reading and tight lines!

Nice, see no reason to be jealous of Sevens. We have no Vinas or SBBs up here :(. Great session in anyone's book!

I suspect the post got locked per an inebriated Squatch!
It's now unlocked. Lol
