Just in case the weeds or surf is bad, Plan B will be to head to Mission Bay for Mud Marlin and Leopard Sharks.

And 4 inch staghorn sculpin, haha.  ;D

OK, here is an update.  The surf this week is going to suck balls, so hopefully that means the following week it lays down in time for the Grinner Gathering.

The event will be held at the "Soup Kitchen" on the 19th.  If you do not know where that is, be sure to message me and I will send you directions as well as parking instructions.  The event will basically go from sunset to midnight or however late anyone wants to stay.  Barring big surf or kelp, it has a great opportunity to get some bigger grinners.  I'll also be searching out some other beaches just to see what the surf and kelp situation looks like just in case we need to change up spots.

SWAG...  The gear will be done this week and I will have it in hand.  I have the list of people who paid and there are a few of you that did not pay yet.  If you ordered something and didn't pay, please do so.  I will also have a card reader to take credit card at the event if need be, otherwise it will be sold off to re-compensate expenses.

Plan B in the worst case scenario will to be fishing Mission Bay for Leopards and Bat Rays.  This will only be if the surf is absolutely unfishable and there are members who still want to fish.

That's it!  We are getting close and keep checking back as I will be entering new info and details on the gathering!

So here is the spot to meet next Saturday the 19th... Seaside Reef at Cardiff Beach.

The long range forecasts are not super accurate, but it is looking to be a good surf for sharking.  It looks to be 3-4 feet at the moment, but that is forecasted out to next weekend.

Parking stinks as you can drop off in the lot, but will need to move your vehicle up the hill to the residential area and walk down after dropping off gear...

Or park down the 101 on the side of the road and hoof it up.

You could see the cars on the southbound side of the 101 at the top of the map.  Either way, it's some good exercise.

If there are any changes, I will let you know ASAP.  There is a spot close to here where might be better, but it is a tackle eater and rigs get swallowed up pretty good.

Shirts are in and sorted, so it's almost upon us!  Let the Grinner Gathering commence!

Anyone trying to make bait this Saturday?

LONGCAST JOE

Have any of you ever been told the beach closes at sunset and been asked to leave, or is that pretty much non-enforced there?

Parking lots close but never been told to get off the sand.

I never heard of the beaches closed at night, only some parking spots and lots like Jim mentioned.

SK it is! Will have most of the day to fish, so I'll hit up some other spot(s) during the day and meet up with afterwards. Tom, mind bringing the SNBF swag I never picked up?
