I got to work at 5am on Friday to try and wrap up some paperwork that has been piling up.  About 7am, I needed a hike and get outside.  Luckily we have a canyon with hiking trails next to our place.

It was a glorious morning and I went looking for lizards and other wildlife.  Lots of funnel webs around...

I then saw a HUGE web in the scrub brush with a 4" Banded Garden Spider in the middle!

Such a cool spider.

Anyway, It was a nice 2 mile hike and I was back at my desk working on that paperwork pile.

It is not as nice as when I worked right across from Mission Bay and got to fish everyday, but having a hiking canyon next door isn't too shabby.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Nice hike Tom, and amazing webs.  Its getting closer to Halloween, so that's why the spiders are building such magnificent webs.   ;)

You might get lucky and see some deer.

I've seen them before and found many old deer bones in my hikes down the canyon.  Never found any antlers though.

Thought it looked familiar! I used to work near there, a biotech company called Suneva just off of Pacific Center Blvd.
