Steve has had a hell of a time since May trying to get a shark landed.  During the big shark run of May and June, he managed to lose all of his fish he hooked and even got some at the final wave before a surge knocked them off the hook and sucked them back out to sea.

Conditions were not the 2-3 they were calling for as they were much bigger.  The rip currents were horrible and there was just enough salad in the water to make things really annoying, but due to the cold, overcast and windy day.... the beaches were clear for fishing immediately after work and not having to wait until nightfall!

I finally got a few bass to the beach as well as Steve got a Calico and a lobster.  Whatever the case, we are not skunked.

My follow up

Steve didn't wait for pics of his fish before releasing them.

We were starting to think about when we were going to call it quits when a loud "pop" happens and I see my rod fly out of the rod holder!  Something slammed it and the rebound popped the rod out!  I got to it while it was in the sand, but I missed whatever it was.

10 minutes later Steve gets a bouncy rod and puts the rod in his hand just in time for it to start running!  Will this be the curse ending surf shark?

Yes it is!  A respectable 70" male Sevengill on mackerel.  Outgoing tide and a waxing gibbous moon.

We gave it another hour for nothing but lobster.

Congrats Steve, it's about damn time!  ;D

It looks like they have returned to the beaches, now just to find where the biomass is hiding!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
